"Ray"

On October 12, 2007, we lost our dear hospital cat and friend, Ray. After a long battle with hyperthyroidism, kidney disease and GI lymphoma, we finally had to let him go to a better place.

When we first adopted him, he spent the first month hiding from everyone and everything underneath the x-ray table, henceforth his name. However, when he finally came out of his shell, he was the most affectionate, fearless cat that I have ever known. Anytime anyone sat down to eat their lunch or write up a chart, he was there to be petted and to provide affection. He would not take no for an answer and was persistent in his quest for a lap. Ray was fearless of dogs, often to the point of folly. He would come nose-to-nose to a barking 120 pound Rottweiler and casually saunter away when his curiosity had been fulfilled.

His favorite places were Dr. Maillard’s office and the recovery cages with their hot water bottles and warm blankets. More than one occasion, we found that he had snuck into a cage to comfort a critically ill patient. It is with heavy heart that we mourn his loss, but ask that you join us as we remember him for all the joy he brought us.
